Brilliant Software is a software company driven by experienced software professionals who have years of experience creating and delivering high-quality software both independently and for large corporate clients. Daniel Drew and Greg Valiquette have the right mix of professional and educational backgrounds to critically look at the software market and identify opportunities to create solutions for unmet needs or improve on existing products.
Dan has worked in the software industry for almost 15 years as a developer, architect and manager at industry leaders such as Delrina, Microsoft and MySpace. The results of his work are used by millions of users in the home, corporate, and Internet markets.
At Delrina, Dan was a key developer on three major versions of WinFax, the market leader in computer faxing software. He worked on every part of the product: from the easy to use Cover Page Wizard to the printer driver that allowed you create a fax seamlessly from your favourite word processor. Dan was recognized multiple times as the leading contributor across WinFax and other products in the same division.
After leaving Delrina, Dan moved to Seattle to join the System Center Configuration Manager team at Microsoft. Configuration Manager is the market leader and is used by major banks, corporations, and even the U.S. Army to centrally manage millions of desktop computers. He built core components of both client and server, provided technical leadership, as well as managed a team of developers to deliver major new features to the marketplace. In 2005 he was given the Gold Star award for the Enterprise Management division, an annual Microsoft award given to the top few contributors in each business group.
MySpace is one of the top social networking web sites in the world. It boasts over 15 million users and services thousands of requests a minute. Every one of those requests relies on software that Dan developed as a Senior Architect on the core infrastructure team. He also worked closely with other feature teams to solve mission critical problems and enable features that directly affected the company’s bottom line.
Greg has more than a decade of experience in technical management and communications. Greg was the Platform Manager for CBC.ca, Canada's largest website, where he coordinated a large internal team and a host of external vendors to provide 24/7 service for an Alexa Top 50 website.
In addition to working at cbc.ca, Greg also ran Test Pattern Productions, providing web and multimedia products for a host of clients around the world including Porsche Canada, Sharp Magazine and England's Oxford Media School. Greg has a Bachelor of Journalism from Ryerson University and a Master's of Arts in Mass Communications from the University of Leicester (UK).
